Position will be full time during the school year, with summers off.

Position located in Dickinson, ND.

The KIDS Program is seeking a speech/language pathologist to work as an early intervention professional in Region 8•Dickinson area. As an early intervention professional, the speech/language pathologist works with children birth to 36 months of age who have been found eligible to receive services through the Key Infant Development Services (K.I.D.S.) Program. Each early intervention professional is assigned families eligible for infant development services to carry on their caseload. Infant Development is a home-based, family-focused service that provides information, support, and training for families to assist them in meeting their childs needs. The primary early intervention professional works directly with the parents to train them in carrying out priorities/outcomes, criteria, and age-appropriate activities within a childs natural environment and daily routines as indicated by the childs I.F.S.P. As an evaluator, the speech/language pathologist will lead the evaluation process for children referred to infant development services; conduct evaluations in an arena setting with at least one other evaluating discipline; interpret and compile evaluation as part of the eligibility evaluation report (developmental profile) while meeting state and federal compliance standards. Evaluators may also be included in annual assessments for children enrolled in early intervention. Disciplines allowed to conduct evaluations in North Dakotas early intervention system include early childhood special education, speech/language pathology, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and social work. As a consultant, the speech/language pathologist will provide consultative support to other early interventionists specific to children enrolled in infant development. Disciplines allowed to consult in North Dakotas early intervention system include early childhood special education, speech/language pathology, physical therapy, occupational therapy, audiology, dietician/nutrition, psychology, and nursing. Travel in an eight-county area to the childs home is required as services are completed at the childs residence. This position supports the mission and organizational goals of HIT.

Education/Experience
Graduate with at least a B.S. or B.A. degree in education, special education, early childhood special education, social work, or health care related field (Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech/Language Pathology, or Nursing). Refer to North Dakota Early Intervention Birth to Three System Personnel Standards for additional personnel categories and EI roles approved.
Valid Licensure by the State of North Dakota in professional area of expertise or certification as referenced per licensure/certification column of North Dakota Early Intervention Birth to Three System Personnel Standards.
Valid drivers license and auto insurance. If license is from another state, obtain ND license within 60 days of hire.
Competent in general development of children birth to 3 years of age.
